A bit about Labradoodles:

Labradoodles originated during the late 80s in Australia as assistance dogs for the physically challenged. Their allergen reduced and low shedding coats are popular with people suffering from allergies. The Labrador Retriever and the Poodle are two highly intelligent breeds known for their excellent temperament and social behaviour. They produce a dog (Labradoodle) which is good with people of all ages with the ability and desire to work.

Who should own a Labradoodle?

Labradoodle dogs Prospective owners should be aware that unlike a pure bred Labrador Retriever or Poodle, the first cross Labradoodle litter may produce a variety of puppies in colour, size and coat. Coat possibilities include the hair coat, fleece coat and woolly coat depending on the generation. Doodles thrive on routine and must be given time for training to stimulate them. Training and early socialisation is the key to avoiding a dog with behavioural issues and active families/people are most suited to owning this breed. Labradoodles aren't going to suit everyone and I will tell you if I don't think they are the breed for you. Calm and labradoodle do not sit easily in the same sentence; if you want to own a calm dog, choose a Labrador!

Choosing a reputable breeder:

A reputable breeder will only breed from health checked stock and ideally should have records for at least three generations to reduce the possibility of genetic defects in future litters. Prospective owners should insist on a British Veterinary Association certificate of hip scoring, and a certificate of current annual eye examination. Ideally you should look around and compare breeders who should be willing to impart information regarding the breed and their establishment. Always see the Dam with the litter. Watch how the puppies, dam/sire interact with the breeder.

DO NOT BUY A LABRADOODLE IF YOU HAVE NEVER MET ONE

All our breeding stock live with us as pets, but have been trained by us to either work as gundogs, compete in agility or assessed as Pets as Therapy companions. Our next litter will be our 4th generation.

Testimonial

We are absolutely delighted with Inca. Gail & Jon have very clearly worked extremely hard breeding and raising the pups to a very high standard of care and attention.

All aspects of buying a puppy were made so much easier with all the help and advice offered both before and after we brought Inca home.
We would not hesitate to recommend TrentisHoe Doodles as wonderful breeders.
